Ancient Greek Sandals? Yes, please!
I do not remember when it was the first time I saw them, but I remember falling in love with them right away. Perfectly designed sandals for every day and any occasion were in front of me ;)
The sandals are designed by Christina Martini who used to design shoes for Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton. Now she works in her native Greece and produces shoes with a local Greek shoe manufacturer.
The main idea of creating such sandals is to show that the traditional design can be used and it is beautiful. Each pair of shoes has an ancient greek name, I suppose the names have been taken from the greek myth. 'According to an ancient greek myth, the gods and goddesses had their sandals made on the beautiful island of Crete by a gifted sandal maker who enriched each pair with magical powers'.
There is the official web-side of Ancient Greek Sandals, have a look, you will not regret ;)

Women only
I have recently found a very strange campaign video. It is Chanel's pre-collection campaign video made by Karl Lagerfeld. "Women only" is a short film which shows a arrival of young girls to the VIP-hall cinema. The girls wear only Chanel. By the way, those girls are favorite models of Karl Lagerfeld. There are some moments in the movie when one can see Karl Lagerfeld. It is a very strange movie;)

I have found a very beautiful fashion video. The video reminds me a fairy tale! Kate Bosworth is so mysterious, elegant, feminine, and graceful.
The video was made for autumn-winter 2011-2012 collection for LØV.
Just enjoy the music, nature, beautiful Kate, and the video itself ;)

The leading Russian designer - A. Terekhov
Alexander Terekhov is the leading designer in Russia today. He is the only one designer from Russia who has been participating in New York Fashion Week since 2006. After Terekhov had graduated from the Moscow Institute of Fashion & Design he began training at Fashion House Yves Saint Laurent.
In 2004 Alexander Terekhov established his own brand, "Alexandr Terekhov". In 2006 he was announced as one of the country's top ten designers in "International Textile". In addition to it, he was selected as one of ten emerging designers by "UPS Delivering Fashion's Future".
His design is well-known for using minimalism and expensive fabrics. The main feature of the brand is dress. Terekhov focuses on different types of dress: classic, cocktail, casual, and so on. The dresses are associated with something soft, simple, but at the same time with chic. His dresses were worn by such celebrities as Angelina Jolie, Celine Dion, and Mischa Barton.
His dresses and skirts are so elegant, graceful and feminine that women wearing his pieces look like ladies. Unfortunately, you can buy his pieces only in two stores, which are located in Moscow.
I think Miroslava Duma has played a role for getting such a great recognition. You could see Miroslava wearing his dresses, coats, skirts in different pictures published in most famous fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and so on.

Cleopatra necklace
You have probably noticed that big and massive necklaces are popular today. I, honestly, like this tendency. As a result I have bought a quite massive necklace from ASOS. The necklace is just gorgeous and what is more important it reminds me one of the Cleopatra's necklaces from different movies and pictures.
It is remarkable that the image and style of Cleopatra, who was born 69 B.C., is still so significant. And it is not surprising, as she was one of the most influential women of all a time. She was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, the wife of Marc Antony, a lover of Julius Caesar, and a victim of Augustus Caesar. Her reign is associated with sex, seduction and great politics.
According to some Greek historians, she did not possess the astonishing beauty, but she had a great charm and charism, the tone of her voice was so pleasant that people could listen to her forever, and her mind was extremely smart and sharp. Cleopatra could speak seven languages and had a great passion for science and literature.
Despite her success in politics and interests in science and literature, she spent a lot time taking care of her beauty. She was well-known for taking bath in milk and honey, for using perfume made from rose oil and violets for her hands, and oil made with honey, cinnamon, iris, hyacinth and orange blossoms for her feet in order to keep her skin soft. She even wrote her own book on cosmetics.
Unfortunately, there was nobody could say how Cleopatra looked like, we can identify her appearance only by looking at coins made in her time and by viewing the statues, which were made of her. In most pictures Cleopatra is traditionally portrayed wearing a massive, flat, circular neckpiece and other different jewelry around.
So you can feel yourself a little bit of Cleopatra by having such a necklace from ASOS ;)

Dream coat - "Norwegian Rain"
Living in such a rainy country as Norway you understand the usefulness of waterproof clothes. Unfortunately, not all pieces of waterproof clothes look nice and fancy. However, guys from Bergen, by the way Bergen is the rainiest city of Europe, have created a beautiful and functional product, Norwegian Rain. They have made a very creative coat with the highest level of weather protection available. In addition to it, the fabric is high-tech one from Japan that is made of 100% recycled material.
"The philosophy is simple. We make hard-core functional outerwear without compromising on stylistic preferences. The hi-tech is hidden".
According to my point of view, the design of coats is associated with kind of a mix between minimalism and Japanese traditional notes. In spite of the fact that the brand "Norwegian Rain" focuses on the functionality and quality, its design of coats is gorgeous.
You can go to their official web-side Norwegian Rain and see the coats by yourself;)
And by the way, the brand has already received a few awards: 3rd prize " The world's best entrepreneur within creative industries" CBC 2012, won "Award for Design Excellence 2012" Norwegian Design Council, and has been nominated: "Honours Award for Design Excellence 2012", "Designer of the Year 2012" Nåloyet Norway, "Talented Newcomer 2010" Vogue Italia &WHITE, "Vogue Talents" Vogue Italia (Sep 2010).

Documentary films about fashion designers.
The blog has moved to
According to Wikipedia Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. But who is responsible for fashion, for example, in clothing... Undoubtedly, designers!
Fashion depends on designers' inspiration and imagination. However, we always see only the result of their work of doing fashion: runways, outfits, applause, articles in fashion magazines, and hight sales. The process of creating fashion is always hidden. Fortunately, we have found documentary movies about three absolutely different designers. The movies show how the designers create fashion!
1. Lagerfeld Confidential.
The movie was made in 2007. The film is full of interesting moments not only from his work, but also from the private life. What is the most important is that you will see Karl Lagerfeld without his famous sunglasses! You will see his eyes! He gives a long interview about his childhood, mother, house, and even his orientation. Shortly, he was very honest in this interview. For example, he hates people, who cannot be alone and work hard.
His sayings make you think!
- You must be able to accept injustice.
- If you want social justice, be a civil servant.
- Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair.
3. Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton.
Unfortunately, the movies was not provided with English subtitles, but Marc Jacobs himself speaks English in the film ;) The movie shows how he makes decisions, chooses accessorizes to his collections, travels from New York (where he creates collections for Marc Jacobs brand) to Paris (where he creates collections for Louis Vuitton).
He visits a lot of galleries in order to get inspiration for his collections. He says: "In the creative hierarchy the art is above fashion".

2. Valentino: The Last Emperor.
This designer is so different from Lagerfeld, that it it clearly seen in the movie. The main focus of the movie is that Valentino is the only one designer in the world, whose career as a designer lasted over 45 years. He is always surrounded by his dogs and his partner, with whom has been together almost 50 years.
Italian atmosphere follows throughout the entire movie: emotions, quarrels, tears... He often says: "I love beauty, it's not my fault".
His mother always said: "You are a dreamer! You dream, dream, dream about stupid things".
It is inspiring to look at an icon and living legend! "Be strong, sophisticated and very feminine!"3. Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton.

Jewelry is made in Norway
Today's post will be all about the pieces of jewelry, which are 'made in Norway' and with which we are currently obsessed with.
Bjørg jewelery name perhaps is more popular in Norway then in other parts of the world, but its unique design and mystical style makes at once catch the attention of jewelry lovers! And we, of course, are not exception ;)
Bjørg jewelry, wich was founded in 2004, is known for a conceptual approach to design pieces as balancing acts between the fine and the raw.
The trademark is the use of rough stones and crafted metal textures. Most importantly, all the pieces are handmade and all materials are 100% natural.
It is so difficult to see then in a shop and not to have a wish of owning them. The only 'stop' factor is perhaps the price. But owning such a cool and unique piece, at least on or two, it's definitely worth it!
